Jokowi Invites China To Investment In IKN Development
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a meeting with the President of the People's Republic of China (RRT) Xi Jinping invited investment from China to participate in building the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.
"Various investment sectors that have the potential to include green energy, fiber glass, health, and petrochemicals. The President invites RRT investment in IKN development," said Retno in a press statement monitored online related to the bilateral meeting of President Jokowi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Chengdu, China, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 27.
Jokowi in a meeting with President XI, expressed that China's investment interest in Indonesia was quite large. Various sectors that have the potential to be targeted for investment, including IKN, will also be presented by President Jokowi in a meeting with Chinese investors, Friday (28/7).
Retno said the potential for an increase in Chinese investment in Indonesia was very open. Currently, China is the second largest investor for Indonesia, which is 8.2 billion US dollars in 2023.
"Although the numbers are already large, we see the potential is still large and very potential to be further increased," said Retno.
In addition to investment, President Jokowi also asked to increase access to exports of Indonesian products to China.

"The president welcomed the signing of the import protocol. Imports in this case are imports of RRT from Indonesia for porang flour and tabasheer powder, encouraging protocol updates and increasing the import quota of swallow's nest, as well as the completion of the import protocol for Indonesian marine products," said Retno.
President Jokowi paid a working visit to Chengdu on July 27 and 28, 2023 in order to fulfill President XI Jinping's invitation, and also to coincide with 10 years of a comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China.
On Friday (28/7), President Jokowi will attend several business meetings with Chinese investors and attend the opening of the FISU University Games.
