Officially Caplok Masela, Pertamina Boss Geber Target On Stream In 2029
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati ensured that the Masela Eternal Field Project will start production or on stream in 2029.
This was done after Pertamina officially took over Shell's participation rights by 35 percent. With this acquisition, Pertamina owns 20 percent of the shares and Petronas by 15 percent.
"The government's hope is to start on smoke in 2029. That's an extraordinary challenge because if you look at the initial schedule Inpex and their shell is targeted for 2030-2032," said Nicke, quoted Wednesday, July 26. Nicke added, to speed up the process, his party must immediately coordinate with partners, namely Petronas and Inpex Corporation, which currently hold a participation right of 65 percent.
"Of course with the government to jointly accelerate this project so that it may be used for domestic gas as soon as possible," added Nicke.
It is known that to annex the WK located in the Arafuru Sea, Pertamina and Petronas had to spend up to 650 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp9.75 trillion.
Nicke said that in order to meet national energy needs, a commitment is needed to maintain oil and gas supply from the upstream side.

"In addition to managing existing fields, a strategy is needed to develop new fields, one of which is the Eternal Field in Blok Masela," said Nicke.
Nicke explained that the Masela Block Abadi Field has the potential to absorb up to 10,000 workers. The development of the Masela Block is expected to help accelerate the development of local areas so that they can create new jobs and can absorb local workers.
This will certainly have a direct impact on economic development in Eastern Indonesia.
