Renault Reveals Pre-Production Version Of R5, Appears More Dynamical To Its Concept
JAKARTA - French automotive company Renault revealed the latest teaser from their hot hatch model, Renault 5 production version, which will be fully powered by electricity.
Speculation about the emergence of Renault 5 production versions has been going on for a long time, even this car has been seen in testing with camouflage stickers on public roads some time ago.
The prototype car was finally revealed in black with a yellow or red line that highlighted its body curvature. With the appearance of these lines, we can imagine what the body shape of this hot hatch R5 will look like.
There are several changes to the R5 pre-production model compared to the concept version launched last year. These changes include conventional door handles, larger rearview mirrors, redesigned bumpers, and slight differences in LED light units.
With these changes, R5 looks more modern, sporty, and dynamic compared to a more rigid version of the concept. The latest R5 design also took references from the previous generation which debuted in 1972.
The new R5 length is estimated to be about 3.92 meters (154.3 inches), making it slightly shorter than the Clio which has a length of 4.05 meters (159.4 inches), making it more agile to use in urban areas. Despite having a compact design, the latest R5 offers a spacious cabin space for the B-Segment class.
According to Renault Group's official website, Monday, July 10, Renault R5 will use the latest platform, namely the CMF-B EV, the same architecture as the Alpine A290_ jurisprudence model. The latest R5 will be Renault's first electric car.
This car is expected to have an electric motor at the front with a power of 134 dk, and is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 40 kWh for the basic version and options with high specifications will get a 52 kWh battery that allows this hot hatch to go up to 400 km.
The R5 will be produced at the Douai plant, northern France, which is also the site for the development of all prototype Renault production models in the future.
