MPLS Goals Are Student Recognition With School Environment, Recognize Understanding And Activities

YOGYAKARTA School children in several areas have started to enter learning activities in schools. For new students, or called new students, participate in MPLS activities. What is MPLS? MPLS stands for School Environment Introduction Period.

The introduction period, which is intended for new students, was carried out when they first entered school. Its activities include the introduction of programs, school facilities and infrastructure, ways of learning, planting the concept of self-introduction, and early coaching of school culture. Launching the program book for SMP Negeri 4 Pakem, Tuesday, July 11, the MPLS program refers to Permendikbud RI no. 16 of 2018 concerning School Environment Introduction for New Students.

Before being called MPLS, this period of introduction was known as MOS or shortcoming from the Student Orientation Period. The implementation of the introduction of the school environment for students needs to be packaged in an educational atmosphere and supports students' creativity in order to create schools as fun places to study. This implementation also refers to Law No. 12 of 2003 concerning the National Education System.

Reported by the book Guidelines for the Implementation of the School Environment (MPLS) Vocational High School (SMK) in East Java for the 2020/2021 Academic Year, the goal of national education is to develop the ability and shape the dignified character and civilization of the nation in order to educate the nation's life, aiming to develop the potential of students to become human beings who believe and fear God Almighty, have noble morals, are healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, and are democratic and responsible citizens.

In its activities, MPLS not only physically introduces the school environment to new students. But also about effective learning methods, concepts of self-recognition, and early coaching of school culture. Important to note, MPLS is prohibited from leading to cybercoon or other acts of violence. This means that MPLS activities must be humanistic, dynamic, fun, and educational. For schools, MPLS aims among others as follows:

In carrying out activities that implement the above goals, schools are required to prioritize awards, not punishments. This is the concept of reward no punishment, which is a punishment if the target is not achieved, or the behavior of children is not in accordance with the norms that are believed to be schools. This concept is interpreted as giving awards and balanced punishments, resulting in positive emotional effects.

That is an explanation of the understanding, objectives, and activities of MPLS in the first period of schooling for new students.
