GM Defense Introduces Electric Military Concept Vehicle (EMCV) Based On GMC Hummer EV

JAKARTA - General Motors Defense revealed the new Electric Military Concept Vehicle (EMCV), based on the GMC Hummer EV, which has been modified for use by the military.

The electric vehicle, reported by The Drive, June 28, looks similar to the gasoline-powered Colorado ZR2-based infantry vehicle (ISV) revealed in 2020, but it's much bigger, more severe, and certainly not noisy.

Behind the military green paint, there is the same framework and EV driving system as the one on Hummer EV, with three electric motors capable of producing a combination of 1,000 dk, as well as a large 205 kWh capacity Ultium battery pack.

A spokesman for GM Defense said that this troop electric vehicle can travel up to 482 km when the battery is fully charged and equipped with a 12 kW diesel fuel generator for limited charging.

It was also reported that the US Army may be interested not only in the vehicle's ability to drive quickly and secretly through combat areas, but also in its battery pack long-distance capabilities.

On the inside, there is no convenience as offered by the passenger version of the GMC Hummer EV pickup, but there is a roll cage tube protecting the driver and five passengers if the car overturns and seat belts.

The braking system is also said to have improved, and has improved offroad mobility. The vehicle also uses 37-inch tires and is equipped with a 46-inch gun ring, as well as a side gun mount that can rotate.

Reporting from Motor1 on June 30, the military version of Hummer EV has been in development for nearly two years, but previously details were not disclosed. It is clear that this latest EMCV will not enter the civilian car market as before, where the GMC Hummer EV is already available to general customers thanks to the services of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
