Gerindra Expects MK To Be Kukuh In The 2024 Election Not To Vote On The Party
JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party wants the Constitutional Court (MK) to confirm that the 2024 General Election remains by using an open proportional system, not the other way around, namely party voting.
"We want the Constitutional Court to continue to strengthen the composition (system) as it is today, that the legislative elections (pileg) in an open proportional system," said Gerindra Party Secretary General Ahmad Muzani in Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Wednesday, June 14, as reported by Antara.
According to him, the legislative election with an open proportional system is something that can strengthen democracy in this country because it can bring representatives of the people closer to society.
"Meanwhile, if it is proportionally closed to us, it can keep people's representatives away from their people," he said.
However, he continued, using a closed proportional system will indeed strengthen political parties more.
"Indeed, on the one hand, it can strengthen political parties with a closed proportional system, but on the other hand, this keeps people's representatives away from their people," he said.
