Regarding Flight Attendants Prohibited From Hijab, This Is The Explanation Of The Garuda Boss
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra spoke about the criticism submitted to his management. One of them is about the issue of banning Garuda flight attendants from wearing the hijab.
Irfan said that his party is always open in every criticism for its airlines.
He said, the management of Garuda Indonesia immediately followed up on complaints from members of Commission VI of the DPR from the Gerindra faction, Andre Rosiade, regarding the issue.
Furthermore, Irfan emphasized that basically the management of Garuda Indonesia does not prohibit cabin crew or flight attendants from wearing the hijab while on duty.
"We had already executed it at that time. Actually, we have never banned (the use of the hijab)," said Irfan in a hearing (RDP) with Commission VI of the DPR at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 13.
According to Irfan, the DPR's input is very positive for the company's evaluation in order to provide clearer information about the policy. Now, he said, the hijab flight attendants are starting to work on every flight.
"Some flights have started to exist (premutures) wearing hijabs," said Irfan.
Irfan said, Garuda Indonesia management also has its own policies regarding hijab flight attendants. For example, hijab-wearing pre-muragies will not be on flights that provide alcoholic beverages.

Furthermore, Irfan explained, his party will only assign hijab flight attendants to serve on domestic and international flights free from alcoholic beverages.
"As President Directors and fathers for all of them, their decision is to wear a hijab, we also support them in aqidah so that they can carry out their faith properly, one of which is Umrah and Hajj flights," he said.
