Construction Of Banten Karian Dam Reaches 90.22 Percent, Minister Of PUPR: Please Work In More Details
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the progress of the construction of the Multifunction Karian Dam located in Pasir Tanjung Village, Rangkasbitung District, Lebak, Banten Province, had reached 90.22 percent.
"Please be sure the job is more detailed, it's just a matter of the final touch of all work. It could be an example of the Ciawi Dam, which worked together, so it all depends on the supervision," Basuki said as quoted by Antara, Friday, June 9.
He advised that the supervision of construction work be further improved so that the Karian Dam can be completed with the best quality.
In addition, Basuki also asked that during the final stages of this work, the construction of dams would continue to be improved, especially crypts made of round stones, so as not to rembes and maintain the strength of the structure.
"Be aware of the installation of crypts in more detail, not from afar. To make sure to use waterpass neatly," he said.
Basuki targets the Karian Dam in Banten to be initially available (impsounding) in September 2023. He requested that after the Karian Dam is completed, the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) will be made as a reference for operation so that dam benefits can be optimal.
The Karian Dam has a capacity of 314 million m3 and a maximum inundation area of 1.740 hectares which can be used to increase the need for suplesy to the Ciujung Irrigation Area (DI) with an area of 22,000 hectares.
In addition to irrigation, the Karian Dam has the main function of supplying raw water for the needs of households, and industry 9 cities/regencies in the provinces of Jakarta and Banten of 14.6 m3/second, namely Serang City, Serang Regency and Cilegon City of 1.5 m3/second.
Rangkasbitung and Maja sub-districts in Lebak Regency are 0.6 m3/second.
Then Parung Panjang District Bogor Regency is 0.2 m3/second, Tangerang Regency is 3.6 m3/second, Tangerang City is 2.0 m3/second, South Tangerang City is 1.8 m3/second, and West Jakarta is 4.2 m3/second.

The construction of the Karian Dam began in October 2015 with a budget of IDR 1.3 trillion and was carried out by the implementing contractor Daelim Industrial Co, LTD-PT Wijaya Karya (Persero)-PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Joint Operation.
This dam also has the potential as a water tourism destination in Lebak Regency and a 1.8 megawatt power plant through the Mini Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH).
