Ministry Of Religion Asks Dai Not To Use Religion For Electoral Interest In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) has asked the dai and daiah involved in politics not to use religion for electoral purposes related to the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

"For the preachers, don't use religious issues to become a means of getting votes or electoral. Religion is too holy to be used as campaign material," said Special Staff to the Minister of Religion Muhammad Nuruzzaman, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 24.

Nuruzzaman said the Ministry of Religion did not prohibit dai from entering practical politics in the 2024 General Election. However, do not bring religion to campaign.

"This is a democratic country, everyone can choose a political party and provide support. However, if you really choose a political party or become a campaigner, please don't prohibit it. However, using a good method," said Nuruzzaman.

On the other hand, he continued, for those who are not involved with practical politics and choose to be neutral, it is better to continue to ground tolerance in the community.

According to him, do not let the situation worsen and divide society into blocks because of differences.

"If you don't choose to be a jurkam and be neutral. So, it can be different in politics, but there should be no difference that causes problems," he said.

It is also emphasized that religion itself is very holy and inappropriate to be used as a tool for political campaigns.

The Ministry of Religion hopes that preachers who want to do politics can use other methods that do not use religion for campaigns.

"There are many other ways that can be used to win the 2024 election contestation. This is because religion belongs to God, religion is sacred. If my interests are chosen (for electoral), use other methods," said Nuruzzaman.
