DENPASAR - The Immigration Office of Ngurah Rai, Bali, deported foreign nationals (WNA) from Australia who forgot that their residence permit had expired due to the fun of having a vacation on the Island of the Gods.
"During the examination, he admitted that he did not expect himself to overstay (exceed the residence permit period)," said Head of Immigration Ngurah Rai Bali Sugito in Denpasar as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 20.
The foreigner with the initials MB was deported on Thursday (18/5) via I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, boarded a Jetstar flight number JQ-38 to Sydney.
Sugito explained that the 72-year-old man exceeded the stay permit period granted by more than 60 days.
Based on Immigration records, MB entered Bali using an on-arrival (VOA) visa facility or a visit visa upon arrival on February 6, 2023.
He was supposed to return to the Ethiopian country on March 7, 2023.
"He thought he could stay for 3 months in Indonesia. MB said he often came to Indonesia, but only less than 1 month left," added Sugito.

Immigration imposed Article 78 paragraph (3) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration to MB with deportation and deterrence.
"The flight ticket is borne by the person concerned personally, so Immigration does not cover ticket fees," he said.
