Driver Of The Deadly Accident Of The Gontor Teaching Group In Parigi Becomes A Suspect
Parigi Moutong Resort Police (Polres) named the bus driver belonging to the Rappang Marannu autobus (PO) in the fatal accident that killed three passengers at kilometer 4 Toboli, Parigi on Wednesday (3/5).
"The determination of the suspect is based on the results of the case conducted by investigators, and the driver with the initials PS alias P has been named a suspect after undergoing examination," said Parigi Moutong Police Chief AKBP Yudy Arto Wiyono, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.
According to the police, the driver is suspected of having neglected to drive the vehicle until the bus that was taken by a group of teachers from the Gontor Ponorogo Islamic Boarding School, East Java Province entered a ravine on the Parigi Moutong Regency Kebunkopi route.
The bus driver underwent an examination by investigators at around 17:00 WITA on Tuesday (9/5) at the Parigi Moutong Police Station. In addition to the investigation process, the police also examined about 21 witnesses, and one of them was a mechanical expert.
"The suspect has been detained for the next 20 days, for further legal proceedings," he said.
Apart from the suspect, evidence in the form of bus wrecks has also been secured at the police station as evidence after being evacuated using heavy equipment some time ago.

From that incident, three passengers died and dozens suffered serious and minor injuries to fractures, including the kernet and the driver were also injured.
"Currently, the passengers of the PO Rappang Marannu bus are still undergoing medical treatment at the Anundaloko Parigi Regional General Hospital (RSUD)," said the Police Chief.
He also appealed to motorists to always be careful crossing the Kebunkopi route, because there are many accident-prone points.
"Every time you drive, obey the signs, using the Indonesian National Standard Helmet (SNI) for motorcyclists, and four-wheeled drivers must wear seat belts," he said.
