Corruption Suspects For Increasing Bengkalis Island Ring Road Detained By KPK

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained the Commissioner of PT Rimbo Peraduan, Suryadi Halim today, Wednesday, May 10. He was detained in connection with allegations of corruption in the improvement of the Outer Ring Road in Bengkalis for the 2013 to 2015 Fiscal Years.

"The investigative team is holding back corruption in the improvement of the Outer Ring Road in Bengkalis for the 2013 to 2015 Fiscal Years," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, Wednesday, May 10.

Asep said Suryadi would be detained at the KPK Rutan, ACLC Building Branch. The detention is carried out for the first 20 days and can be extended if needed.

Suryadi became a suspect after he gave Rp175 million. The gift was to smooth out his desire to get the Duri East Ring Road construction project in Bengkalis, whose budget reached Rp203.9 billion.

Before giving the money, Suryadi first contacted former Bengkalis Regent Herliyan Saleh so that his wish was fulfilled. Both then managed to control the auction process so that PT Rimbo Peraduan got the project.

To smooth out the occupancy, Herliyan asked the Head of the Public Works Service (PU) held by M. Nasir. After the money was given, Suryadi's company then got a construction project.

However, the volume of the type of work is not in accordance with the contract. As a result, the state lost up to Rp41.6 billion.

For his actions, Suryadi is suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
