Ford Enters Three-line Electric SUV Segment, Expedition Successor?

JAKARTA - The vehicle company from the United States, Ford, continues to add new models to its electric vehicle lineup. Most recently, Ford is preparing a three-line electric-powered SUV.

The market for passenger vehicles in the US is currently dominated by a 3-line SUV. Meanwhile, the 3-line electric SUV is controlled by Tesla.

The electric-powered SUV segment with three rows is rare. Apart from Tesla with Model Y and X, there is also Mercedes-Benz with two models, EQS and EQB, Rivian with an R1S SUV.

Meanwhile, Kia also launched EV9 for the North American market last month and is available at the end of 2023. Then, there is also a Honda that prepares a large electric car for 2025.

"Unlike the two-line crossover that many people believe will be in great demand and many manufacturers are working on it, we believe the E model can be an option with a wide space or three lines of SUVs," said Ford CEO Jim Farley, quoted by CarBuzz, Saturday, May 6.

Ford assesses that currently there are not a few Ford novice customers who have never tried a vehicle from Ford. The existence of this three-line SUV aims to provide them with additional new experiences.

Ford is actually no stranger to a three-line SUV. Previously, they had produced Ford Explorer and Expedition Max.
