Trade Case Of 20 Indonesian Citizens, Bareskrim Pockets The Identity Of Recruiters To Be In Conflict Areas
The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has the identity of the alleged recruiter behind the 20 Indonesian Citizens to Myanmar. Currently, investigations are ongoing to seek information and clues.
"We have known his identity while we are still investigating," said Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro when confirmed, Thursday, May 4.
However, there are obstacles faced in the rescue process of the 20 Indonesian citizens. They are said to have been detected in Myawaddy, the location of the armed conflict area between the Myanmar military (Tat Ma Daw) and the Karen rebels.
Thus, the authorities from Myanmar are currently unable to enter the area and have not been able to follow up on complaints from the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon.
"Until now we have not been able to communicate with the victim," said Djuhandani.
However, Bareskrim emphasized that it would follow up by asking for data on victims or families for an in-depth investigation. Then, coordinate with the Directorate General of Immigration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon.
"Our obligation is to prove and uncover this case," said Djuhandani.
As a reminder, dozens of Indonesian citizens suspected of being victims of the TIP were first discovered after the viral video uploaded to the Twitter account @bebaskankami.
