Alert! The Dry Season In Bengkulu Is Predicted To Happen In Early May

BENGKULU - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that starting in May 2023 some areas in Bengkulu Province will be hit by drought. "Starting this May, starting from Mukomuko Regency which borders the province of West Sumatra will be hit by dryness, then other regions will also follow," said Bengkulu Province Data and Information Coordinator, Anang Anwar, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 27. According to Anang, the entire Bengkulu Province will gradually be hit by dryness in the May to August 2023. Apart from Mukomuko Regency, other districts and cities are predicted to enter the dry season in June 2023. Then, he continued, the rainy season in Bengkulu Province is estimated to start again in September 2023. Even though the dry season hit Bengkulu, BMKG said that the public should not be too worried because the province will not have a severe drought. "Although the dryness, but Bengkulu will not dry, because Bengkulu will not dry up, because at normal conditions the rainfall level is high when compared to other regions, and during the dry season it will still get rain," he said. Rainfall in Bengkulu is currently still at intermediate intensity, namely with rainfall above 150 mm. According to BMKG the rainfall is divided into three categories, the rainfall is low intensity of 0-100 mm, intermediate 100-300 mm, and high at 300-500 mm.

"Entering July and August, Bengkulu will still experience rain, drizzling. So it is not really dry and dry," he said. However, BMKG still reminds residents to prepare for dryness, and also use water efficiently, not wasteful use of water.
