Minor Injuries, Dumai Oil Refinery Fire Victims Increase To 9 People
JAKARTA - The injured victims as a result of the explosion incident at the Dumai Pertamina refinery gas compressor unit increased to 9 people from previously reported as many as 5 people. Pertamina stated that all injured victims had received treatment and returned to their homes. Area Manager Communication, Relations, and CSR Dumai Refinery, Agustiawan confirmed that the injured victims were affected by fractions of glass as a result of the explosion that occurred on Saturday, April 1 night. "The number of victims who received first aid increased from five people to nine workers in the operator room and all had returned to their respective homes after receiving treatment at Pertamina Dumai Hospital," said Agustiawan, in his official statement, Sunday, April 2. Although reportedly there were no casualties, this fire incident caused quite severe damage. As a result, production activities at the affected refinery were temporarily suspended. Agus Setiawan said that at around 22.44 WIB at the Unit 2 11 HCC (Hydro Gross Complex) PT KPI had a gas make-up compressor fire that began with the presence of an explosion that resulted in vibrations around the refinery area.

The fire was extinguished 10 minutes later, Agus said in a written statement. The victims were employees of Pertamina HCC who were on the afternoon shift. On average, they suffered minor injuries due to broken glass, but medical treatment has been carried out at Pertamina Dumai Hospital and have been allowed to go home.
