NTT Lembata Rocked By M 5.1 Earthquake, No Tsunami Potential

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 occurred in Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

From the BMKG website page, Thursday morning, informing that the earthquake occurred at 03.23 WIB.

The location of the earthquake was at 8.84 South Latitude (LS)-123.22 East Longitude (BT) with a depth of 65 kilometers.

Citing Antara, the epicenter was 50 kilometers southwest of Lembata.

BMKG stated that the shocks may be felt up to Timor Leste and its surroundings.

The BMKG informed that the earthquake that occurred in Lembata had no potential for a tsunami.

Even so, there have been no reports of significant damage caused by the earthquake.
