Tangerang Regency Government Issues Circular Letter, Regulations For Business Entrepreneurs During Ramadan

TANGERANG - The Regency Government (Pemkab) has issued a number of regulations for cafe businesses, dining establishments, and nightlife entertainment during the month of Ramadan. The policy is a form of tolerance between religious communities.

The rules regarding operating hours were issued through a Regent Circular Letter (SE) issued on March 20, 2023, which contained:

1. Business actors in discotheques, nightclubs, bars, karaoke, spas/massage parlors, and the like to temporarily close and not carry out operational activities during the holy month of Ramadan

2. Restaurant/restaurant business actors, cafes, and the like must:

a. shifting business operating hours from 15.00 WIB to 04.00 WIB.

b. Installing curtains/ the like for those who provide dine-in; And

c. It is not permitted to use live music and/or other forms that can interfere with worship in the month of Ramadan.

3. Supervision and control of the implementation of this circular are carried out together with related regional apparatus, TNI, Polri, Civil Service Police Unit of Tangerang Regency, District, and Kelurahan/Village of Tangerang Regency.

Contacted separately, the Secretary of the Tangerang Regency MUI, Nur Alam, emphasized that his party only gave an appeal to businesses providing culinary services by limiting operational hours.

"MUI is not an executing agency. Basically, if there is an entertainment venue or restaurant that violates the rules, the license will be reviewed," said Nur when confirmed, Tuesday, March 21.

He also hopes that the public will respect people who are fasting.

"For our brothers and sisters who are not fasting so that they don't have demonstrations of eating and drinking," he concluded.
