The Status Of The Alleged Rapists Did Not Block Achraf Hakimi From Being Summoned To The Morocco National Team
JAKARTA - The status of Achraf Hakimi who was caught in the alleged rape case has not hampered the player's career in the world of football. Hakimi is still trusted by the Moroccan national team to appear on the FIFA Matchday agenda this March.
Morocco's coach, Walid Regragati, continues to include Hakimi's name on the list of players to face Brazil and Peru.
Regarding Hakimi's status, Regragati did not want to emphasize that. For him at this time, Hakimi is in the presumption of innocence and he will try to support the player.
"For us, all the people of Morocco, we are behind Achraf (the judge)," Walid Regragati was quoted as saying by ESPN on Tuesday, March 14.
"He still has an innocent presumption until it is proven otherwise," Regguri continued.
Regragui admitted that he often communicated with Hakimi in the middle of the case that dragged the player's name. According to Regragati, Hakimi was calm enough to respond to the allegations directed at him.
"I often talk to Achraf like I often do to many other players. He is calm, and most importantly, he is a strong figure both on the field and off the pitch," said the coach.
"We have to think about football in the first position. He already has people in charge (related to alleged rape)," said Regragati.
Previously, Hakimi was suspected of raping in Paris. This started when a 24-year-old woman admitted that she had been raped by the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player.
Hakimi's lawyer stated that the case reported by the woman was part of an extortion attempt.
Although currently the alleged rape of Hakimi continues, he is still allowed to leave France. This will make it easier for Hakimi to get closer to Morocco on the agenda of defending his national team on FIFA Matchday.
