LPSK Handover Richard Totaling To Salemba Bareskrim Detention Center

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) handed over Bharada Richard Total to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Salemba branch of the National Police, Saturday, March 11.

LPSK spokesman Rully Novian said the handover was an administrative procedure that was a follow-up to the decision to terminate protection for Richard.

"One of them is the handover to the Salemba branch of the Criminal Investigation Unit," he said in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara.

When the handover was made, Richard was in good health, after previously receiving a medical examination conducted by doctors from the LPSK and the Police Dokkes. There was no visible legal advisor accompanying RE in the handover process.

The handover was then stated in the Report of the Protectiond Delivery (RE) which was signed by the LPSK and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

"The termination of the protection was followed by the withdrawal of security against RE. Furthermore, RE security was fully responsible for the Salemba Prison," Rully explained.

He expressed his appreciation to the Bareskrim Polri Detention Center, the Directorate General of Corrections and the Salemba Prison. Synergistic cooperation that was built with these parties, LPSK can carry out maximum security against RE.

He emphasized that in the implementation of the witness and victim protection program, LPSK has never considered small violations of laws and protection agreements. This is because LPSK protection aims to maintain safety and protection.

Previously, LPSK had officially decided to stop the protection of RE. This happened after there was communication from other parties without permission and not based on LPSK's approval, resulting in a violation of Article 30 paragraph (2) letter c of Law Number 13 of 2006 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims.

The article regulates the willingness of witnesses and / or victims not to be related in any way to other people other than the LPSK's approval, as long as he is under LPSK protection.

The derivative of Article 30 paragraph (2) letter c is also contained in the RE protection agreement with LPSK and the statement of willingness of RE to follow the terms and conditions for the protection of witnesses and victims that have been signed.
