The Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Of NTT Ensures That LBH Does Not Accept Payments When Accompanying The Clients Of The Poor
KUPANG - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kanwil Kemenkumham) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) advised residents to take advantage of the free legal assistance services provided through legal aid organizations (LBH).
"Anyone who is poor can receive legal assistance for free from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, so please take advantage of this service when dealing with legal problems," said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of NTT Province Marciana Dominica Jone as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 7.
In the Focus of the Discussion Group with the theme "Service Standards Design at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of NTT Province", Marciana emphasized that poor people who experience legal problems can take advantage of free legal assistance services by only completing requirements such as self-identification certificates.
He mentioned that as many as 15 OBHs were partners with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights spread across NTT to be willing to provide legal assistance for free, including the Peradi Ruteng DPC, the Manggarai Raya LBH Association, the NTT Province LBH Association, the Kefamenanu Posbakumadin, the Soe Posbakumadin, the Lentera Belu Legal Aid Foundation and the Indonesian Advocacy Posbakum Foundation.
In addition, Sarnelli's Legal Aid Office, LBH Surya NTT West Manggarai Representative, LBH Indonesian Women's Association for NTT Provincial Justice, LBH Surya NTT Kupang Regency Representative, LBH Surya NTT Lembata Regency Representative, LBH Surya NTT Representative of Rote Ndao Regency, Institute for Consultation and Legal Aid of STIKUM and the Indonesian-Maumere Advocatek Legal Aid Post.
"Legal aid from the legal aid agency (LBH) is free of charge, and it is not justified that there is a fee because it is really free from the state that prepares the costs," he said.
Marciana emphasized that if there is an OBH or LBH who asks for or collects funds from the poor who deserve free legal assistance, they are allowed to report to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of NTT for follow-up.
The Group Discussion Focus activity was attended by various elements of society and institutions in the area, including OBH/LBH, the Indonesian Ombudsman Representative of NTT Province, and academics from a number of universities in Kupang City, as well as civilians.
