Bring Sharp Weapons To Brawl, Police Arrest 52 Teenagers in Padang

SOLOK - The Padang City Police arrested 52 teenagers who wanted to fight on Sunday, March 5 at around 03.00 WIB. The dozens of teenagers carrying sharp weapons convoyed using motorbikes.

"Receiving information that there was a group of teenagers whose convoy was about to fight, we immediately went to the location and managed to arrest 52 people", said Head of Detention and Evidence Unit AKP Joko Sutriyanto quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, March 5.

He said that brawls almost broke out in several locations in the local city, namely on the Bypass Jalan Simpang Lubuk Begalung, Marapalam, East Padang District, and the Bypass area, Kuranji District.

The gang initially conducted a convoy of motorbikes to look for opponents while carrying sharp weapons.

When being chased by officers who were a combination of the Padang Police, the East Padang Sector Police (Polsek), and Lubuk Begalung, the mob immediately became upset and topsy-turvy.

Many even left motorbikes at the location, while sharp weapons were found scattered.

"We secured 41 units of motorbikes, while ten blades of machetes and sickles were sharp weapons", he explained.

Joko said dozens of perpetrators, sharp weapons, and motorcycles that were secured were immediately brought to the Padang Police Office for further processing.

"Perpetrators who are proven to have sharp weapons we will process criminally because their actions have greatly disturbed the community", he said.

He explained that motorbikes would also be dealt with according to the Road Traffic and Transportation Law.

The police continue to urge all parties to take care of their children and nephews together, especially on Saturday nights and early Sunday mornings.

"Supervision must be carried out together, do not let children or nephews go out at night to anticipate negative things", he said.

Joko said that for perpetrators who were still students, his party would inform their respective schools so that they would be processed according to school rules.

On the other hand, to anticipate the brawl, the Padang Police held an activity to create conditions from Saturday night to Sunday morning around 06.00 WIB.
