Google Officially Launches Memory Saver and Energy Saver Features
JAKARTA - Google started rolling out two new features called Memory Saver and Energy Saver for Chrome 110 on the desktop.
Announced last December, when Chrome version 108 was launched, Google has committed to ditching the reputation of its browser that sucks up a lot of power and storage space.
With the addition of these two features, Google Chrome can become one of the best web browsers for Android which also offers the same features as the desktop version.
In its announcement last December, Google said that Memory Saver mode would reduce Chrome's memory usage by up to 30% by putting inactive tabs to sleep. Tabs will only reload when you need them again.

Meanwhile, Energy Saver mode limits background activity and visual effects for websites with animations and videos when your laptop's battery level drops below 20%.
When active, you'll notice a leaf icon next to the Omnibox and a heavy lack of visual effects. Google explains this battery saving is achieved by disabling smooth scrolling and website animations, while reducing the video frame rate.
According to an Android Police note, for Chrome version 110 on Chromebooks, Windows, and Mac, these new Memory Saver and Energy Saver features will be enabled by default.
But, there is no need to worry because you can turn off this feature or limit its operation whenever you want. Chrome also allows Energy Saver to automatically start as soon as the charger is unplugged to maximize efficiency.
