Sandiaga Uno: Aircraft Ticket Prices That Go DOWN Are Not Applicable In All Provinces
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said the promo on aircraft ticket prices that fell did not apply in all provinces in Indonesia, but along with the increasing number of aircraft and the availability of seats, it is hoped that it will gradually decrease.
"We hope that the ticket price will gradually fall and be affordable because the domestic target of domestic tourists is 1.4 billion movements and this must be supported by all stakeholders," Sandiaga said in The Weekly Brief, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, February 21.
Sandi also submitted data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) regarding aircraft passengers in Indonesia who experienced an increase of 85 percent with a total passenger of 55.85 million.
"This is a positive achievement but we will cooperate with the Ministry of Transportation and airlines both national and foreign airlines because this has received direct directions from the President so that the number of direct flights to Indonesia and domestically is increased," he added.
Sandi also welcomed the decline in part of the plane ticket price and is expected to be more evenly distributed, especially entering the holiday season for Eid al-Fitr 1444 H in April.
On the same occasion, former Garuda Indonesia Commissioner Peter F Gontha said, Indonesia needs to liberalize flight routes and not impose a lower limit (TBB) and upper limit tariffs (TBA) to minimize jealousy if an airline provides promos.
"Everything must compete openly," said the man who is currently the CEO of Transvision.
Peter also said that overseas airlines competed with not only based on ticket prices.
"We see companies such as Qatar, Etihad, Turkish, and Emirati, that they are not taking advantage of flights, but they take advantage of transits from passengers in certain hubs, because every passenger, if taken into account if they land or transit, as well as in Singapore, will spend 300-500 US dollars per pax (person)," he added.
