KLB PSSI Drama: Yunus Nusi Retreats, Menpora Zainudin Amali Becomes Erick Thohir's Deputy
JAKARTA – Drama occurred in the election for the 2023-2027 Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Deputy Chairperson at the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, February 16 2023.
Yunus Nusi, who was actually chosen, was self-defeating. In fact, in two voting times, he got votes that could place him in the PSSI 2 seat.
He was elected deputy chairman after securing 53 votes in the re-election. "Today let me apologize and on this occasion also say, Bismillah... I regret myself from the Deputy Chairperson of PSSI in the results of today's congress election for the sake of our togetherness, for the future of today's football", said Yunus Nusi.
"I firmly regret that I am the general deputy chairperson. Hopefully, by releasing it the congress will be better", continued the man who previously applied for the Secretary General of PSSI.
With Yunus' resignation, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali, who received the third most votes in the re-vote, automatically rose to become vice chairman. He will accompany Queen Tisha who previously received the most votes.
The two of them will accompany SOE Minister Erick Thohir who has been elected as PSSI Ketum 2023-2027.
Yunus' resignation completes the PSSI 2023 Extraordinary Congress drama this year. Previously there had been a possibility that forced the re-election of the deputy chairman.
The commotion was because some voters felt that they were being deprived. They protested because the name they chose was not read out during the vote-counting process.
