Using Condoms Can Affect Sensation During Sexual Intercourse, Is That True?

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Indonesian Obstetrics and Gynecology Association - Jakarta Raya, Dr. Ulul Albab, SpOG commented on the opinion of some men who say condoms can affect pleasure during intercourse.

Ulul confirmed this opinion. However, according to him, the problem lies in the condom material which might affect the sensation when the man and his partner have intercourse.

"The advice is to choose the right condom. Keep in mind, there are several condom materials, not only latex but there are several other types," Ulul said, according to ANTARA.

In addition to the material, pay attention to the thickness of the condom and the way it is installed, because these two things also affect the enjoyment of intercourse. Not only about condoms, but Ulul also corrected two myths that still exist in society regarding contraception, one of which is that hormonal contraception makes a woman's uterus dry so that it is associated with sexual pleasure.

He said there was no link between hormonal contraceptives and the uterus being dry. According to Ulul, there are even several types of hormonal contraception that actually provide protection against the lining of the uterus.

"Then the function of hormonal contraception works, one of which is to thicken the cervix so that sperm cannot rise to the top to meet the egg. So it has nothing to do with pleasure or sensation during sexual intercourse," he explained.

Another myth is related to the IUD type of contraception which can make husbands feel uncomfortable during sexual intercourse. This is one of them related to the thread that reaches the vagina during IUD installation.
