BMKG Forecasts The Rob Flood Peak In Central Java On February 17-20

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the peak of sea water runoff entering land or tidal flooding on the north coast of Central Java will occur on February 17-20, 2023.

Head of BMKG Tanjung Emas Maritime Meteorological Station, Semarang Retno Widyaningsih, appealed to the public to be vigilant in dealing with the impact of maximum tides.

BMKG said the new moon phase, which coincides with Perigee or the closest distance from the moon to earth on February 20, 2023, has the potential to increase the maximum sea level.

Meanwhile, for the period 15-17 February 2023, he said, BMKG predicts wind speeds on the coast of Central Java that blow from Southwest to Northwest to reach 4 to 25 knots.

This condition, he continued, resulted in wave heights ranging from 1.25 to 4 meters.

"On February 16, the wind speed is estimated to be between 4 and 25 knots with a wave height of 4 meters," he said in Semarang, Central Java, Tuesday, February 14, as reported by Antara.

This condition, he continued, is predicted to occur in the central part of the Java Sea.

As for sea waves with moderate categories, he said, there is the potential to occur evenly throughout the coast of Central Java.
