Lionel Messi's Heart Moves To Help Victims Of Turkish And Syrian Earthquakes, Money IDR 56 Billions Disbursed

JAKARTA - Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi poured funds of 3.5 million euros or Rp56 billion for donations of victims of the Turkish and Syrian earthquakes.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 struck Turkey on Monday, February 6 morning and was felt all the way to Syria and several surrounding areas. As a result of this great earthquake thousands of people became victims and caused enormous losses.

Seeing this situation, Lionel Messi did not remain silent. Messi's heart was moved to help by pouring out funds that were not small for the victims.

The news of donations made by La Pulga was known from a Turkish media report reported by Tirana Post. Sources said the donation assistance provided by Messi was channeled through his charity, the Leo Messi Foundation (LMF).

LMF is Messi's aid and charity which was founded in 2007 and is engaged in social, health, and education. This institution also focuses on helping underprivileged children around the world.

Messi's institution is also noted to have helped Indonesian children. Together with UNICEF and the Barcelona Foundation, LMF helped children drop out of school in Indonesia in 2015.

Apart from being caused by a disaster, Messi also cares about the fate of children whose countries are hit by war. Almost every year LMF donates to children victims of war in Palestine and Syria.

Previously, Atalanta's player, Merih Demiral, auctioned off a costume signed by Cristiano Ronaldo. The results of the auction were channeled to Turkey's charity, Ahbap.

Demiral himself is a Turkish player who had a team with Ronaldo during his time with Juventus. He admitted that he had asked permission from the Portuguese superstar before auctioning off the goods.
