Bukit Asam Has Started To Operate 5 Units Of Electric Buses At Tarahan Lampung Port

JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID mining BUMN holding, has started operating five electric buses to pick up employees at Tarahan Port, Lampung since January 1, 2023.

"In addition to Tarahan Port, PTBA also operates 10 electric buses in the Tanjung Enim Mining Unit. A total of 15 electric buses have been operated by PTBA," said PTBA President Director Arsal Ismail in Palembang, Friday 27 January.

In line with PTBA's vision of becoming a world-class energy and chemical company that cares about the environment, the use of electric vehicles will continue to be increased as a step to reduce carbon emissions.

Reducing carbon emissions is estimated to reach 16 tons of CO2/Year/Bus. In addition, the use of electric buses reduces the use of fuel oil (BBM) to 9,672 liters/Year/Bus.

PTBA seeks to run a sustainable business so that it can contribute optimally to the community.

"We continue to develop decarbonization programs to support the Government's target of achieving Net Zero Emission by 2060. The use of electric buses is one of the efforts to achieve this target," he said.

Arsal further explained that PTBA Tarahan Port Unit won the Golden category in the Company Performance rating Assessment Program in Environmental Management (PROPER) in 2022. This achievement is the third time in a row after 2020 and 2021.

The Gold PROPER is the highest award awarded to companies that have proven to implement a good environmental management system, including the application of energy efficiency, emission reduction, water efficiency and reduced burdens of water pollution, reduction and utilization of B3 waste, reduction and utilization of non-B3 waste, and protection of biodiversity.

Not only the use of electric buses, but the energy efficiency is carried out by the Tarahan Port Unit through a modification of the starting sequence operating system of the stockpile-1 to the shipholder-2 route, water efficiency through reducing operational water by using retardant industrial liquid, reducing emissions through the reengineering rotary car dumper from a single dumper to a double dumper.

In addition, the treatment of B3 waste through the recovery lubricant uses a welter purifierion system, B3 solid waste treatment in the form of oil waste of 38.9 tons, reduction and utilization of non-B3 inorganic waste of 13.2 tons, and bamboo breeding which in 2022 will be able to produce a biological state of affairs of 3.14.

The operational management of PTBA related to the environment is in accordance with international standards. This is marked by the ISO 14001:2015 certification of the company holds.
