Stumbling On Interpol's Red Notice, KPK Cannot Arrest Paulus Tannos In Thailand
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that their fugitive in the corruption case in the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP) Paulus Tannos was found in Thailand and could be arrested. However, Interpol has not issued a red notice.
"If at that time the person concerned (Paulus Tannos, ed) really had a red notice, he could have been caught in Thailand," said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto told reporters, Wednesday, January 25 evening.
Karyoto revealed that the KPK actually submitted a red notice five years ago to Interpol Indonesia. However, when they checked with Interpol based in Lyon, France, it turned out that the red notice had not been issued.
"We don't know why. Was it because there was an upload error or something else, we don't know," he said.
"But yesterday we fixed everything. Hopefully, those who have been issued as DPOs will automatically issue red notices internationally from Interpol Lyon," he continued.
