YOGYAKARTA - The government launched various programs to address the problem of unemployment in Indonesia. One of the programs issued is PKK and PKW. Then what is PKK and PKW?

What is PKK and PKW

PKK is an abbreviation of Work Skills Education Program. Quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the PKK program is an education and training service program that is oriented towards developing work skills according to industry needs given to students so that they have competence in certain skill areas, as evidenced by competency certificates to work and be absorbed in the world of business and industry. (DU/DI). While PKW stands for Entrepreneurial Skills Education (PKW).

In general, PKW is an educational service in the form of entrepreneurship courses and training which is opened specifically for non-school-age children (ATS), namely ages 15-25.

Meanwhile, the PKK is a work skills education and training service program that is oriented to the needs of the world of work by targeting non-school-age children (ATS) aged 17-25 years.

The two programs are carried out by the Directorate of Courses and Training (Ditsuslat), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).

This program is in the form of assistance especially for Indonesian children who have dropped out of school. Through these two programs these children will have the opportunity to improve their competence in various trainings and courses according to their interests.

Quoted from Antara, the aim of holding the PKK and PKW programs is to prepare human resources in Indonesia who are skilled, have character, are competitive, and have innovation.

As is known, the PKK and PKW programs are held every year starting in 2020. This year the PKK and PKW 2023 have been reopened by the Government.

The difference between PKK and PKW

Although both were launched to address unemployment problems, PKK and PKW have several differences, namely as follows.

  1. Participant Age

PKW is specifically for non-school age (ATS) aged 17-25 years, while PKW targets non-school age children (ATS) who are younger than PKK, namely 15-25 years.

  1. Program Overview

In practice, PKW will help students to develop knowledge, skills, and foster an entrepreneurial mentality. This program is expected to be able to manage self-potential and the environment for entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, the PKK will help participants gain competency in specific skill areas. Later participants will receive competency certificates that can be used as work provisions and enter the world of business and industry (DUDI), or the world of work.

PKK and PKW 2023

This year the Government is again holding the 2023 PKK and PKW. The 2023 PKK and PKW programs are different from the previous year's PKK and PKW. This year the Government is targeting a wider range of students including those in frontier, remote, and disadvantaged (3T) areas.

The government is targeting the PKK program to reach 11,790 students. Meanwhile, the 2023 PKK funds per participant range from IDR 2 million to IDR 12 million per person. The PKW program targets 7,910 participants, while the 2023 PKW funds reach IDR 49.4 billion.
