Inaugurating Joint Secretariat With PKB, Gerindra Doesn't Want To Rush Declaration Of Coalition Presidential Candidates
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of Gerindra Habiburokhman emphasized that his party did not want to rush into declaring the presidential and vice presidential candidates that the Gerindra-PKB coalition would support. Even though the two political parties have inaugurated a Joint Secretariat (Sekber) to welcome the 2024 Election.
Because, according to him, the election process is still quite long, namely one more year. Moreover, Habiburokhman said, until now there has not been a single political party coalition that has determined its presidential candidate.
"We are not in a hurry to declare it because the election is still one year away, and there is no coalition that has definitive presidential and vice presidential candidates yet," said Habiburokhman, Tuesday, January 24.
"In addition, we are also continuing to explore other parties that will join this coalition," he added.
Even so, the chairman of the Gerindra Honorary Council emphasized that so far only the Gerindra and PKB coalitions have made the most progress.
"However, we have to be honest our coalition is the most advanced coalition at the moment," he said.
According to him, the existence of the Gerindra-PKB Secretariat which was inaugurated by the two chairmen yesterday, is a concrete manifestation of political relations that are getting better and better.
"With this secretariat, the political cooperation between the two parties can be maximized," said Habiburokhman.
Previously, PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin admitted that the declaration of the presidential and cawapres candidates to be carried by the PKB-Gerindra coalition was still waiting for the PDI Perjuangan.
However, if later the PDI-P makes an announcement at the last second or last minute, Cak Imin says that the PKB will be faster.
"One of the (PDIP) considerations. But I hope it will be quicker," said Cak Imin, Thursday, January 19.
Meanwhile, the results of the Ijtima' Ulama Nusantara recommendation mandated that the PKB coalition determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates before Ramadan.
