BMKG Forecasts North Sumatra, Riau To West Kalimantan Anniversary Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has the potential to cause North Sumatra (North Sumatra), Riau and West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds today Wednesday, January 11.

Citing the BMKG page via Antara, a number of other parts of Indonesia also have the same opportunity to rain today. The area is in the provinces of Aceh, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Lampung, East Nusa Tenggara.

Furthermore, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.

Meanwhile, areas that have the potential to experience strong winds are South Sumatra, Lampung, West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan and North Kalimantan.

The BMKG said cyclonic circulation was observed on the Malaysian Peninsula, in the southwest Indian Ocean of Banten, and in the northern Pacific Ocean of Papua which forms a convergence area that extends from the eastern waters of the Philippines to southern Thailand, from Aceh to southern Malaysia, in the southwest Indian Ocean of Banten, and from Papua to the northern Pacific Ocean of Papua.

The convergence area was also observed extending from the Indian Ocean west of Sumatra to South Sumatra, from North Kalimantan to the eastern Sulawesi Sea, and in southern Papua.

According to BMKG, this condition is able to increase the potential for rain cloud growth around the cyclonic circulation area and along the convergence area.
