There Is Sad News Behind The Number Of Active Cases Of COVID-19 In Riau Islands, Which Now Remains 9 People
TANJUNGPINANG - The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Riau Islands is now only nine people left. That was after four people were declared cured.
This was conveyed by the Spokesperson for the Riau Islands COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Tjetjep Yudiana. He revealed that the two COVID-19 patients who were declared cured came from Karimun Regency and Lingga Regency. Meanwhile, the other two residents of Bintan were also declared cured of COVID-19.
With the recovery of patients in Karimun and Lingga, the two regions followed in the footsteps of the Anambas Islands and Batam City Regencies with zero active cases of COVID-19.
"The good news is that five regions in Riau Islands have zero active cases of COVID-19, and in recent days there have been no additional new cases. Hopefully nine COVID-19 patients in Bintan and Tanjungpinang will recover soon," said the former Head of the Riau Islands Health Service.
However, behind the good news, there is sad news. However, one COVID-19 patient in Tanjungpinang was declared dead after receiving intensive care.
Meanwhile, Tjetjep stated that the abolition of social restrictions has not had a negative effect on Riau Islands since the policy was implemented. On the contrary, COVID-19 patients are decreasing, and there have been no new cases until now.
"The elimination of social restrictions has had a positive impact. Community activities are increasing, the economy is moving quickly while active cases are decreasing," he said.
Head of the Riau Islands Health Service Muhammad Bisri said the nearly nil active case in Riau Islands was due to increased community immunity.
Based on the results of research by the Ministry of Health, the Riau Islands' immune system reaches 90 percent, much higher than the national average.
The average community immunity is formed after receiving the COVID-19 vaccination, although there is also a natural immune system formed after successfully recovering from COVID-19.
"The pattern of living a healthy life and consuming fish every day also increases immunity naturally," he said.
