JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team failed to beat Vietnam in the first leg of the 2022 AFF Cup semifinal at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, Friday, January 6. Both teams only drew 0-0.

The Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong said Fachruddin Aryanto and his friends had worked hard. However, he again highlighted the final completion of his team.

"Players have worked hard in the match earlier. There are many opportunities too, but no goals have been created," Shin said, as reported by Antara.

"The chances are good, unfortunately the opportunities that exist cannot be utilized. We will prepare again for the next match," he continued.

A draw in SUGBK extended Indonesia's unwinning record against Vietnam in the last five meetings. Moreover, this also made Shin continue the non-winning trend against Vietnam, since they were coached by Park Hang-seo.

This result is clearly not profitable for the Indonesian national team because the second match of the AFF Cup semifinals will be held at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi, Monday, January 9. The match at the opponent's home is decisive.

The Indonesian national team must win in the second leg to qualify for the final. If they draw, the Garuda Squad can qualify if they manage to score.
