Even Though The PPKM Was Revoked, DKI Still Applies The Use Of Masks In All Public Transportation

JAKARTA - The DKI Transportation Agency requires crew and public transport passengers to continue to wear masks to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 during the transition to endemic.

"I ask for this circular to be a concern and to be carried out as well as possible and with full responsibility," said Head of DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, Friday, January 6, as reported by Antara.

Syafrin issued Circular Number e-0002 of 2023 concerning the Obligation to Use Masks in public transportation facilities and infrastructure during the transition period to endemic on January 5, 2023.

In addition to the obligation to wear masks, the DKI Transportation Agency also asked public transport operators and terminal implementing units to prepare a place to wash hands with soap or hand sanitizer.

The preparation of the hand washing or hand sanitizer is used when in the area or facility area or transportation infrastructure and when using public transportation.

Then, encourage public transport passengers to use the PeduliLindung application when entering transportation facilities and encouraging them to continue to carry out further dose vaccinations (boosters).

According to him, this obligation is in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 53 of 2022 concerning the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 during the Transition Period Towards an Endemic.

President Joko Widodo has stopped the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) as stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 50 of 2022 concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities in COVID-19 Conditions in the Java and Bali Regions.

President Jokowi explained that in the last few months, the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia has been increasingly under control.

As of December 27, 2022, daily cases were 1.7 cases per 1 million population, weekly ratio of positive cases was 3.35 percent, hospitalization rate or "bed occupancy rate" (BOR) 4.79 percent and death rate 2.39 percent.

Even so, health protocols (prokes) must still be applied to certain locations, including public transportation and closed space because the World Health Organization (WHO) has not revoked the status of the COVID-19 pandemic.
