There Is No Relevance With Political Electability, Issu Ketenagakerjaan Keprap Jadi Bahan Campaign Para Politisi

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) Hariyadi Sukamdani reminded politicians not to make employment issues, especially regarding the minimum wage as a campaign material when nominating themselves as regional heads.

"What we are concerned about to this day is that the issue of employment, especially wages, is always politicized, I believe it happened, especially by regional heads who have certain interests. It exists, I don't need to mention it," Hariyadi said at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 3.

Hariyadi even said that his party had received a Governor's Decree which regulates the provincial minimum wage beyond its authority, because there was an element of political interest. In fact, the issue of employment has no relationship at all with electability in the campaign.

However, this is still often done to this day. "Yesterday, we received a governor's decree like that, suddenly he arranged it outside his authority, because of political activities. In fact, we always remind that the issue of employment has no relevance to electability, it is reality and it has happened many times," he explained.

The Apindo chairman also mentioned that one of the regional heads in West Java who used employment issues, especially related to the minimum wage. The regional head in his campaign promised that the district's minimum wage in the future would be the highest in Indonesia, but in fact it did not work.

"There is one regent in West Java, I don't need to mention the area, the campaign will make the district minimum wage the highest in Indonesia, does it win? Not really. In the past there were also presidential candidates who had interests like this, did they win the presidential candidate? not really, because it has nothing to do with it," said Hariyadi.

He also emphasized that politicians should not enter the realm of employment, let alone make employment issues as a campaign material. Because, this will harm the community.

"I always remind my fellow politicians, don't go into this realm, because this area is so messy, the people who lose are the people. Political friends never think carefully, he thinks the issue of wages will boost its relevance," concluded Hariyadi.
