Press Logistics Truck Fuel Fee Up To 30 Percent, Pertamina Implements The Use Of CNG

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) uses Diesel Dual Fuel or DDF which is a combination of diesel fuel and compresses Natural Gas (CNG) for transportation modes.

The implementation of the use of CNG is a synergy within the framework of the energy transition carried out by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga as the manager of the Logistics Tank and PT Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk. as the provider of CNG.

Pertamina's Director of Logistics and Infrastructure Erry Widiastono said that the implementation of the DDF is Pertamina's commitment in order to reduce carbon emissions and implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in the company.

"It is hoped that with the implementation of the DDF, operational costs will be more efficient, as well as the use of CNG volume will increase in accordance with the target of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources 47/2021, as well as create an ecosystem for utilizing BBG as transition energy," said Erry in an official statement, Wednesday, December 28.

PGN's Director of Strategy and Business Development Heru Setiawan stated that PGN as Pertamina Gas Subholding fully supports Pertamina's BBG conversion program.

On the other hand, PGN has targeted an expansion of the use of BBG for land transportation in the next five years. Conversion to BBG on fuel logistics trucks is expected to further optimize SPBG.

With the use of DDF, it will save fuel costs on dual fuel trucks of up to 30 percent. Technically, DDF has met security standards including those from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Industry," explained Heru.

Just so you know, PGN is targeting to convert 1,000 trucks or buses in the next five years. Gradually, conversions to BBG will also be carried out on small vehicles of around 18,000 units.

PGN has prepared 57 SPBG locations, including Mobile Refulling Units (MRU) to provide and distribute BBG, in the form of CNG for land transportation. BBG and supporting infrastructure for land vehicles will be supplied by PGN Subsidiaries, namely PT Gagas Energi Indonesia.

SPBG locations will be spread across Riau Islands, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Kalimantan. The location of the SPBG is on the main route of Javanese Sumatra and national logistics lines, so that it will encourage Pertamina to convert logistics trucks using CNG.

PGN's innovation to provide mobile SPBG and LNG/CNG Trucking, is an effort to accelerate the energy mix of gas, both for transportation and industry.

In the initial phase, the use of Module Transport Gas (GTM) and MRU to supply CNG to fuel transport trucks. The next phase is the revitalization of Plumpang SPBG for CNG supply to fuel transport trucks and public transportation vehicles.
