One People Died Covered In Land Landslides In Karanganyar
JAKARTA - Heavy rains in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java Province caused floods to landslides on Friday, December 24 evening. The Karanganyar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that one resident died as a result of being buried by the landslide.
"The Karanganyar Regency BPBD has evacuated the dead victim. A landslide occurred in Karanglo Hamlet, Sidoukti Village, Jenawi District, Karanganyar Regency," said Plt. Head of BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in his statement, December 24.
Muhari said that landslides in Karanganyar also occurred at several points in Jenawi District, namely being identified in Nglebak Hamlet, Lempong Village.
The landslide damaged the residence and talud around the residents' houses.
Meanwhile, floods hit several areas in Jati Village, Jaten District. This incident did not cause any casualties. The water discharge due to heavy rains finally damaged the river embankment.
"This condition caused a number of residents' houses to be flooded. BPBD noted 53 families whose houses were flooded with a water level of 70-100 cm," said Abdul Muhari.
The Karanganyar Regency BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) together with other related elements have made emergency efforts at the disaster site. The personnel coordinate with the village and sub-districts to obtain information on the situation in their area, as well as alert equipment and equipment if there are residents who need evacuation.
Based on the inaRISK study, Jenawi and Jaten sub-districts in Karanganyar Regency are areas with moderate to high flood hazard potential.
A total of 14 sub-districts are in a potential hazard by that category. Then, 13 sub-districts have moderate to high landslide hazard potential, one of which is Jenawi District.
"BNPB urges local governments and residents to increase vigilance and preparedness in dealing with wet hydrometeorological hazards, such as floods, flash floods and landslides," he said.
