Hotman Paris Highlights 3 Articles In The Criminal Code, Rules On Alcohol Are Considered Not To Enter Different
JAKARTA - The famous lawyer, Hotman Paris, highlighted three articles in the Criminal Code (KUHP) which were recently passed by the DPR on Tuesday, December 6.
The three articles, namely Article 411 concerning adultery, Article 422 concerning Kebo Association, and Article 424 concerning alcohol.
According to Hotman, of the three controversial articles that are considered the least reasonable is article 424 concerning alcohol.
The reason, he said, is that the content in Article 424 will actually harm tourism actors, namely restaurants and hotels. In addition, according to him, tourists will be targeted if for example he will buy drinks while traveling in Indonesia. The rules in the article are considered unclear.
"Article 424 is about alcohol, this is what tourists can become targets later. It is stated here that if there are people who are drunk, they are not punished, but if their friends add more drinks, then the person who adds this is the one who goes to prison for 1 year. But the most dangerous thing is people whose job is to add drinks, go to prison, waitress," said Hotman when in the North Jakarta area, Saturday, December 10.
In addition, Hotman said, the meaning of getting drunk referred to in Article 424 also did not have a more detailed explanation. Therefore, according to him, it will be dangerous.
"While the notion of getting drunk here is not regulated, whether it's tips or what. This is the most dangerous, if indeed the goal is to prevent drunk people, this threatens all the lives of restaurants and hotels," he said.
Hotman stated that Article 424 concerning alcohol did not make sense. According to him, the article needs to be deleted in the Criminal Code.
"This is an article that I once again say doesn't make sense, there is no legal reason and must be removed from the face of this earth," he concluded.
Previously, Hotman Paris also admitted that he was dizzy by the DPR with legal logic regarding the ban on family gatherings at the Criminal Code which was just passed on Tuesday, December 6, yesterday.
Through his Instagram account, Hotman warned widowers and widows to be careful because they can be reported to the police, they can even face a criminal sentence of 6 months.
"Hello to the couple, whether single or widow, even single, be careful. If you are a widower, you get together with a single woman, even though both are not bound by marriage to any party, the widow's child can report his father and girl to the police and because gathering is a threat of 6 months in prison," he said.
Hotman then gave an example, if the person who got together was a widow and a boy who was also a widow, the widow's child or the widow's parents could report to the police on charges of gathering.
"I really don't understand this law. Cook the widow or widow's child to report her father even though they are both single. Oh, where is the legal logic? DPR-DPR, I'm dizzy," he said.
