5 People Arrested In Barelang, 28.4 Kg Sabu From Malaysia Failed To Be Circulated In Jakarta And Batam
The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police thwarted two narcotics cases with a total evidence of 28.4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
Kapolresta Barelang, Kombes Pol Nugroho Tri Nuryanto said that from the disclosure of the case as many as five people as suspects were arrested.
"This amount of methamphetamine was obtained from the disclosure of two cases. The first disclosure in Sagulung the team confiscated 1.9 kg of crystal methamphetamine and the disclosure of the two officers confiscated 26.5 kg of crystal methamphetamine, bringing the total to 28.4 kg. From the disclosure of the case, we have named five people as suspects," said Nugroho in Batam, Riau Islands, Tuesday, November 29, quoted from Antara.
Nugroho explained that these two disclosures were a different network and the suspects did not know each other. However, from the evidence that was secured, it was known that the methamphetamine was the same product that came from Malaysia.
In the first disclosure of the case, officers arrested two suspects with the initials ARL and SM around the Sagulung people's port, Sunday, October 30 with 1.9 kg of methamphetamine evidence which is planned to be circulated in Batam.
Then the second case was revealed on Monday, November 7, the police arrested three suspects, namely NR in Batam, then HR and M in Jakarta.
"The 26.5 kg of crystal methamphetamine is planned to be brought by NR to Jakarta by sea using a fast boat, but the officers first thwarted it. From NR, officers finally arrested HR and M in Jakarta and there are two other perpetrators who are still being searched," he said.
The five suspects who were arrested by the Barelang Police were known to have received varying wages to deliver the methamphetamine ranging from Rp. 5 million to Rp. 40 million.
"The perpetrators ARL and SM admitted that they were new. Meanwhile, the perpetrators of NR, HR and M admitted that they had more than once and received wages of up to tens of millions of rupiah. But we are still investigating the confessions of the perpetrators," he said.
The suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph 2, Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, the first punishment is the death penalty, life imprisonment, imprisonment for at least 6 years, and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
