The Realization Of The IDR 1,200 Trillion Investment Targeted By Jokowi This Year Is Believed To Be Achieved

JAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, guarantees that the investment realization target of IDR 1,200 trillion is achieved by the end of 2022.

"Alhamdulillah, it has reached IDR 892.4 trillion or 74.4 percent (of the target). This is a number that God willing, I promise to achieve by the end of the year of IDR 1,200 trillion", he said at a press conference. "Investment Continues to Grow to Support Economic Growth", quoted from Antara, Thursday, November 10.

According to Bahlil, the realization of investment that grew positively, especially in the third quarter of 2022, also helped boost national economic growth in the same period to reach 5.72 percent. Moreover, the current investment realization has become more balanced not only in Java but also outside Java.

"This is one of the quality economic growth and I think we must maintain this", he said.

Regarding the investment target in 2023 which increases to IDR 1,400 trillion, Bahlil admits that the target is difficult, especially in the midst of uncertain global economic conditions.

He said that when compared to the pandemic era that can be passed with difficulty, the challenges in 2023 will be much tougher.

"In 2023, it will not only be a matter of a pandemic but also a matter of global economic conditions which are not very good, very dark", he said.

Bahlil admitted that he would only be able to determine the strategy after the G20 Summit, precisely after holding meetings and communication with global investors and several government colleagues from other countries.

This is because the G20 countries control 80 percent of the world's economy, hold 75 percent of the world's exports, and have 60 percent of the world's population.

"We have taken several anticipatory steps, especially regarding what will be done in 2023", he said.

However, he is still reluctant to reveal the strategy before getting the right information from the partners.
