Secretary General of Gerindra: Prabowo Will Consider Riza Patria to Run for DKI Regional Head Elections But It Has Not Been Decided

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani, responded to the news that former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria would be promoted as a governor candidate in the upcoming 2024 DKI Jakarta regional head election.

Muzani revealed that General Chair Prabowo Subianto would consider Riza Patria running for the DKI gubernatorial election. However, Prabowo has not officially given his blessing.

The chairman of the Gerindra faction in the DPR considered that it was natural for Prabowo to consider Riza Patria to be the governor candidate of DKI Jakarta. This is because Ariza has served as the Chair of the DPD Gerindra DKI Jakarta and was once the deputy governor of DKI.

"Mr. Ariza is the chairman of the Jakarta Gerindra Party DPD and he was once a deputy governor. If then Mr. Riza is expected to become a governor candidate, it is natural", said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 9.

According to the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR, the two experiences were taken into consideration by Prabowo in appointing Riza Patria to run for the DKI gubernatorial election.

"I think that will be something that Mr. Prabowo will consider", he continued.

However, Muzani emphasized that until now the Gerindra Party has not yet decided which candidate will run in The upcoming 2024 DKI Jakarta regional head election. However, he acknowledged that Riza Patria was one of the figures being considered to run as a candidate for the leader of DKI Jakarta.

"Until now, we haven't decided who the candidate for governor is, but among them, Ariza is one that we are also considering", concluded Muzani.
