The 2022 AFF Cup is in Sight, the PSSI Wants to Speed Up the Naturalization of Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh and Shayne Pattynama
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has proposed three names to be naturalized as Indonesian national team players. They are Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh and Shayne Pattynama.
Jordi and Sandy are just waiting to be sworn in as Indonesian citizens (WNI). Meanwhile, Shayne just received the blessing of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
The PSSI hopes that the naturalization process for the three can be completed simultaneously this November. The hope is that they will be able to defend the Indonesian Team in the 2022 AFF Cup which will begin in December.
To achieve this, the PSSI will communicate with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
"We hope that both of them can do it at once. They are three players who are prepared for the back row (of the Indonesian national team). Hopefully on November 15 it will be finished," said the PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan, as quoted by Antara.
According to Iriawan, the Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong hopes that Jordi, Sandy and Shayne have joined the Indonesian national team's training camp (TC) for the 2022 AFF Cup.
The South Korean coach is said to already have a back line framework for the Garuda Squad. "Shin Tae-yong has simulated with me how the back row of the national team will be," said the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule.
The Indonesian national team will start TC preparations for the 2022 AFF Cup on November 28, 2022. However, the location is still a question mark.
Meanwhile, the 2022 AFF Cup will be held from 20 December 2022 to 16 January 2023. Indonesia is in Group A of the 2022 AFF Cup with defending champions Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and the winners of the qualifiers between Brunei Darussalam and Timor Leste.
