President Xi Jinping Said, China Is Ready To Stand Side By Side In Peace With The US

JAKARTA - Chinese President Xi Jinping promised to turn over a new chapter -- good news for the world -- with the United States. China is ready to coexist with the US.

This is arguably a statement that cools tensions between China and America. After months of high tension between Washington and Beijing over Taiwan's position and China's view of the Russo-Ukrainian war.

"The world today is neither peaceful nor calm", Xi wrote in a congratulatory letter to the annual gala of the National Committee on US-China Relations, China's state broadcaster CCTV reported Thursday, October 27, quoted by Al Jazeera.

"As a great power, strengthening communication and cooperation between China and the US will help enhance global stability and certainty, as well as promote world peace and development", Xi said in his message to the New York-based nonprofit.

Xi said China is also willing to work with the US for mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. And these two countries, Xi said, must find a way to communicate in the future.

"Not only will it be good for both countries, but it will also be beneficial for the world", Xi wrote.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said the Chinese leader knew Washington did not want to seek conflict with Beijing. The White House promised to call on the dialogue between the two countries leaders to continue.

Meeting with his top military advisers, President Biden said President Xi Jinping knew the United States did not want to seek trouble with China.

"We are not seeking conflict with them", he said of China.

President Biden added that the United States would continue to highlight several issues, ranging from Russia's aggression in Ukraine, and climate change, to the Indo-Pacific region.

Earlier, a White House spokesman said President Joe Biden would continue dialogue with President Xi Jinping, including possible talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
