Make Online Meetings More Interesting! Microsoft Presents Metaverse Style Avatars To Teams

JAKARTA - Animated or metaverse-style avatars are now available on Microsoft Teams, users can use this new feature to attend certain meetings or events on the video conferencing app.

This new avatar is part of Microsoft Mesh's platform, where users can select customized animated versions to display in Teams meetings, slightly similar to Zoom's virtual avatars.

Through the Avatar app at the Microsoft Teams app store, users can design up to three avatars to be used in meetings with movements to react.

The launch of this avatar, Microsoft said, could give users time to rest from the camera with them still present at the meeting.

Our data shows that 51 percent Gen Z envisions working in the metaverse in the next two years. You can create a special avatar to represent yourself," said Microsoft CVP for Jared Spataro's modern work.

The presence of this metaverse avatar is Microsoft's commitment to blurring the line between video conferencing software and the metaverse, which some business leaders believe is the next major development in collaborative tools after switching to hybrid work.

Launching TechRadar, Sunday, October 16, avatars may also be a small game in the company's goal of revitalizing a platform that has stagnated over the past year.

Microsoft says that more than 270 million people actively use Teams every month, a number that hasn't changed since January as more and more workers return to the office.

Avatars are available on standard Teams for private preview customers, while organizations interested in trying them can sign up for an update on the Teams website if they are not yet part of the Team's Technical Access Program.
