Already Started Fit, Thibaut Courtois Bisawal Gawang Real Madrid At El Clasico
JAKARTA Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said Thibaut Courtois had gradually recovered from injury. The main Los Blancos goalkeeper is ready to appear in El Clasico against Barcelona this weekend.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are scheduled to meet at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, October 16. Courtois was previously in doubt due to an injury problem at the groin.
However, slowly the condition of the Belgian goalkeeper is getting better. He is also expected to be lowered when Madrid host their arch-foe.
"Courtois jauh lebih baik, rencananya adalah memulai pelatihan pada hari Kamis dan siap untuk hari Minggu. Kami sudah berbicara dengannya dan dia jauh lebih baik," ujar Ancelotti, dilansir Sportskeeda.
The Belgian international has been absent in the last three games of Madrid. His position was replaced by Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin since the 1-1 draw against Osasuna on Monday, October 3.
He then missed the next two matches, namely against Shakhtar Donetsk and Getafe. The 30-year-old goalkeeper is also not expected to be able to play against Shakhtar in the early hours of the match.
"I always talk to Lunin because she plays well. She is young and has a lot of quality. The only thing we can do is support her," said Ancelotti.
23-year-old Lunin has made three appearances for El Real this season with a record conceded two goals and kept a clean sheet.
Courtois has made nine appearances for Los Blancos so far this season. He has conceded a total of six goals and kept three clean sheetes.
The former Atletico Madrid player has made 190 appearances, conceded 176 goals and kept 76 clean sheet since his arrival from Chelsea in 2018.
