Earthquake Magnitude 5.5 in Banten, Feels As Far as Jakarta
JAKARTA - An earthquake rocked Banten Province this afternoon. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that the earthquake occurred at 17.02 WIB.
The quake had a magnitude of 5.5 with a depth of 12 kilometers. The epicenter of the earthquake was 26 kilometers southwest of Bayah District, Lebak Regency. BMKG said this earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami.
"Earthquake Mag:5.5, 09-Oct-22 17:02:44 WIB, Lok: 7.09 South Latitude, 106.08 East Longitude (26 km Southwest of BAYAH-BANTEN), Kedlmn:12 km, no tsunami potential", wrote the Twitter account @infoBMKG on Sunday, October 9th. The tremors caused by this earthquake were also felt in the DKI Jakarta area.
