Search for 2 Landslide Victims at Kotabaru Gold Mine, South Kalimantan Stopped due to Bad Weather

BANJARMASIN - The search for victims of a landslide at a gold mine site in Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan was halted due to high rainfall and bad weather.

"The team was forced to stop the search for landslide victims because the natural conditions at the location were very dangerous due to high rainfall and others," said the Head of the Kotabaru Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Hendra Indrayana, as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 6.

Temporary data on landslide victims at the gold mine in Bulu Kuning Village, Sungai Durian District, Kotabaru Regency on Monday, September 26, as many as nine people died, six people were injured and two people are still missing.

Six of the victims who suffered injuries are still being treated at the nearest hospital and being treated at their respective families and homes.

The other two victims have yet to be found.

The two victims who have not been found are Ravi (28) from Rantau, Tapin Regency, and Parin (25) from Nagara, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency.

The victims who died were Wahid (35), a resident of Pemangkih, Banjar Regency, Padliannor (50), Inal (31), and Salman (30), a resident of Pelaihari, Tanah Laut Regency, while the identities of the two victims who are thought to be husband and wife are still unknown.

Meanwhile, five injured victims were Isay (50) Pelaihari resident of Tanah Laut Regency, Asul (40) Batu Kajang, Hamidah (46) Sungkai, Anang Suryadi (60) Sungkai and Mardiah (50) Sulawesi.*
