River Spice Parking Park Brigif Marked Projects In Singapore And The Netherlands

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan explained the concept of building an overflow of the Brigif river, referring to the Kallang river in Singapore and the Meuse and Waal rivers in the Netherlands.

"We refer to the two places in building an overflow of the Brigif river. The first is the Kallang River project in Singapore, then in the Netherlands the Meuse and Waal rivers," said Anies at the Brigif Jagakarsa Reservoir, Jakarta, Thursday, October 6.

Anies explained that this natural-based solution river is a naturalization program using the concept of returning to nature before this area was deepened by development.

The idea of a natural-based solution can reduce carbon gas emissions by up to 39 percent of development in DKI Jakarta which has contributed to polluting the environment, he said.

According to Anies, the Brigif river overflow space is prepared to accommodate water discharge from upstream to reduce the load to the downstream area.

In addition to the concept based on nature, Anies also refers to the water control concept of the room for the river program, such as the Meuse and the Dutch Waal rivers, which make it a water reservoir.

The river overflow space is not only in Brigif, this similar concept will later be continued in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta and Pondok Ranggon, East Jakarta.

"These three should not be the last three, these are the first three for the entire Jakarta area. Hopefully, the Ciliwung River Basin Center (BBWSCC) can also take advantage of this approach for other places," he concluded as quoted by Antara.

Singapore Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Kook Seng said he was happy to witness one of the innovations in DKI Jakarta that could be global.

"I previously said that the challenge of the future is to unite two countries. Because we have the same approach, for every solution we need," said Kwok Kook Seng.

Brigif's space or reservoir was built on an area of 10.05 hectares which is estimated to be able to accommodate a larger volume of water, which is about 380 thousand cubic meters (m3).

The reservoir, which is located in Cipedak Village, Jagakarsa District, functions to control flooding in the South Jakarta area, especially in areas along the Krukut River Watershed (DAS).
